DEPT OF DEFENSE.DEFENSE LOGISTICS AGENCY.DLA MARITIME.DLA MARITIME COLUMBUS.DLA WEAPONS SUPPORT · Response deadline: Thu, 12 Nov 2026
What the government is buying
DLA Maritime Columbus is procuring a safety cable kit under its weapons support mission. Safety cable kits—common in NAICS 332994 (Small Arms, Ordnance, and Ordnance Accessories Manufacturing)—typically include cables, ferrules, and related hardware used to secure components, prevent mechanical failure, or maintain safety-critical assemblies on weapons systems or associated equipment. These kits are standard in military maintenance and overhaul operations where positive retention of fasteners and parts is required.
The Defense Logistics Agency manages this acquisition on behalf of maritime weapons systems customers. As a combined synopsis/solicitation, this notice serves as both the advance announcement and the formal request for offers, meaning offerors can respond directly to this posting without waiting for a separate solicitation release.

Who can bid
Only Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSBs) verified in the System for Award Management (SAM) may bid. To qualify, your concern must meet SBA size standards for NAICS 332994 (generally 1,000 employees), be at least 51% unconditionally owned and controlled by one or more service-disabled veterans, and have one or more service-disabled veterans managing day-to-day operations and holding the highest officer position.
Non-SDVOSB firms, including other small businesses, cannot receive award under this set-aside. Joint ventures are permitted if the SDVOSB partner meets these requirements and the joint venture is properly registered in SAM and documented per SBA regulations.
How to put together a competitive bid
Verify your SDVOSB status first. Confirm your SAM entity registration reflects current SDVOSB certification and that your VETS documentation or SBA VHUB verification is active. DLA contracting officers typically validate this before award.
Obtain the complete specifications. Combined synopsis/solicitation notices often embed technical requirements, packaging standards, and inspection clauses within the SAM posting or associated documents. Download all attachments to determine exact cable configurations, materials (stainless steel, Inconel, etc.), breaking strength requirements, and any MIL-SPEC or SAE references.
Review DLA's supply chain requirements. Weapons support items frequently require DFARS clauses, traceability documentation, and counterfeit electronics avoidance procedures. Check for Quality Assurance Provisions, First Article Testing requirements, and DLA's Strategic Material or Buy American Act applicability.
Price strategically. Safety cable kits are often recurring demand items in DLA's inventory. Review past awards under similar NSNs or solicitations at DLA Maritime if available. Factor in DLA's standard terms: FOB destination, net-30 payment, and potential requirements for Wide Area WorkFlow (WAWF) invoicing.
Submit through SAM. Follow the instructions in the "Response Instructions" section precisely. DLA Maritime Columbus typically requires electronic submission; confirm whether quotes or formal proposals are requested and any required representations or certifications.

All technical specifications, delivery requirements, clauses, and response instructions are contained in the complete posting—not in this summary.
